Modern businesses can only succeed if they implement a cloud native strategy, which increases flexibility while meeting necessary security and compliance requirements and drives growth and innovation. In parallel, to control exponentially increasing complexity, there is a growing need to consistently deliver, operationalize, and manage application sprawl across public and private clouds or at edge locations.
At VMware Explore 2022 Europe today, VMware, Inc. A cloud smart approach to cloud native application development, delivery, and management that supports customers at every step of their journey, across any Kubernetes and across any cloud, will be presented at the VMware Tanzu® cloud native app portfolio and VMware Aria cloud management platform.
“We are aware that no two journeys into application modernization are the same, and organizations require the freedom to select the appropriate cloud, software artifacts, and services for each application in accordance with its specific requirements. Ajay Patel, senior vice president and general manager, Modern Apps & Management Business Group, VMware, stated, “But as businesses expand to new clouds to leverage unique services, the lack of skilled developers, Kubernetes expertise, security, compliance, and management complexity of operating across clouds are frequently cited as leading challenges.
“To take advantage of the advantages of multi-cloud, platform teams require solutions that unify visibility and management, enable self-service, enable developer velocity, establish standard guardrails, and implement secure software pipelines. The latest milestone in VMware’s commitment to supporting our customers’ unique transformations with intelligent, holistic tools that provide greater flexibility, consistency, and choice can be seen in today’s enhancements to the VMware Tanzu, VMware Image BuilderTM, and VMware Aria portfolios.
Cloud Native Strategy
VMware will announce the beta launch of VMware Image Builder, the Bitnami engine that powers the automation behind the packaging, verification, and distribution of VMware Application CatalogTM artifacts. This will address the growing needs around managing the content that enters the corporate software supply chain and ensure that developers are aligned with security and compliance requirements. Open source is at the heart of enterprise innovation and is rapidly being adopted across enterprises in development. On the other hand, use in production has slowed due to concerns about addressing security and lifecycle management.
In accordance with corporate compliance standards, VMware Image Builder is an API-first SaaS solution that automates the creation of secure, dependable, and continuously maintained software artifacts to publish to developers as building blocks in the development process. The ability to trigger a variety of compliance checks, functional, performance, and vulnerability scans on a variety of Kubernetes distributions and VMware vSphere® across all major cloud platforms is made possible by VMware Image Builder, which also enables packaging artifacts into multiple formats (Containers, Helm, Carvel, and OVA).
Utilize VMware Tanzu® for Kubernetes Operations to Harness Any Kubernetes on Any Cloud VMware’s State of Kubernetes report(2) revealed that over 40% of respondents use hybrid cloud models and 52% select multiple public cloud vendors, highlighting the cloud chaos that numerous businesses are attempting to navigate. Tanzu for Kubernetes Operations from VMware makes it easier for teams to set up the right Kubernetes environment anywhere and standardizes how applications and environments are managed and protected.
At VMware Explore Europe
VMware will announce updates to key Tanzu for Kubernetes Operations components, such as VMware Tanzu® Kubernetes GridTM, VMware Tanzu® Mission ControlTM, and VMware Tanzu® Service MeshTM Advanced edition. These updates are designed to optimize operations for any Kubernetes at scale, running on any cloud or at the edge, and assisting customers in achieving faster development cycles and time to market for the workloads on which their businesses rely.
Kubernetes is optimized for edge environments, consistent Kubernetes management is provided for on-prem, air-gapped environments, and Kubernetes operations are expanded to more public clouds with the new VMware Tanzu enhancements. Tanzu Kubernetes Grid 2.1, which will be released today by VMware, adds support for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to the already existing support for AWS, Azure, and vSphere.
This will give customers even more flexibility and consistency when they deploy across multiple clouds. Additionally, VMware will announce a new initiative to design and provide self-managed, private deployments of VMware Tanzu Mission Control. This new initiative supports customers scaling Kubernetes cluster deployments with automated, policy-driven management and security assistance.
Customers who must operate in air-gapped and on-premises environments can take advantage of having full control over their entire fleet of clusters and the connectivity to the network infrastructure. Notwithstanding these updates, Tanzu Administration Cross section Progressed will incorporate extra abilities to permit administrators to consequently find Kubernetes bunches, empower onboarding of those groups for secure availability, and exploit new GitOps backing to additionally bind together tasks with Kubernetes bunches.
With VMware Aria HubTM and VMware
Aria GraphTM, multi-cloud management can be reimagined. Platform teams must increasingly rely on cost, performance, security, and configuration data to comprehend the entire application’s characteristics as IT teams accelerate app development and utilize a multi-cloud environment.VMware Aria’s new and expanded capabilities for cloud native application and multi-cloud management complement the new additions to VMware’s Tanzu portfolio.
VMware Aria Graph is a graph-based data store technology that was unveiled at VMware Explore U.S. in San Francisco. It provides management insights from federated third-party management tools and a near-real-time map of applications and clouds.
Within VMware Aria Hub, a brand-new platform that provides centralized views and controls for managing the entire multi-cloud environment, VMware Aria Graph is available.App-aware management for native public clouds and hybrid clouds is provided by the VMware Aria portfolio, which includes VMware Aria Hub and VMware Aria Graph. This enables customers to address challenges that cross disciplines, tools, and teams.
VMware is announcing the initial availability of a new free offering of VMware Aria Hub powered by VMware Aria Graph today at VMware Explore Europe. Customers will be able to inventory, map, filter, and search resources from up to two of their native public cloud accounts in either Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services with this new free tier.
Users will be able to comprehend how their resources relate to other resources, policies, and other essential components of their cloud environments with the help of the freemium service. Visibility into CIS benchmark violation data from VMware Aria AutomationTM for Secure Clouds and list price costing for resources from VMware Aria CostTM powered by CloudHealth® are two additional free features.
Customers will be able to manually curate applications with the free tier to gain a deeper comprehension of their business applications’ dependencies and relationships. This freemium service is expected to launch in VMware’s Q4 FY23.VMware Aria MigrationTM’s Beta availability is also announced by VMware.
VMware Aria Migration is a new end-to-end service that was previously announced as a Tech Preview at VMware Explore in San Francisco. It uses VMware Aria Hub and VMware Aria Graph to automate assessment, planning, and execution to speed up and simplify the multi-cloud migration process.
